🌼🌸 A colourful welcome is on its way to Kingswells this spring following the planting of 1,500 spring bulbs across our village this morning. A lovely mixture of muscari, crocuses, Puschkinia libanotica and chionodoxa was planted to bring early-season colour and life to our local green spaces.

Well done to all the wonderful pupils of Kingswells Primary School who took part in planting native trees today in the snow! ❄️ 🌱 Digging into hard, frozen ground is no easy task, but you absolutely smashed it — what an impressive effort from everyone!

The Kingswells War Memorial, standing solemnly in the churchyard of Kingswells Church of Scotland (Kingswells Parish Church), is a poignant reminder of the local lives lost in the two World Wars. Unveiled on 1 May 1920, the memorial was constructed from Kemnay granite and takes the form of a classical pillar on a stepped base. A broken column and laurel wreath adorn the top—traditional symbols of lives cut short and honour in sacrifice.
Saturday 11th April marked 15 years of the Kingswells Facebook Page… and it all really began long before Facebook.
(Story time)Back in 2000, when I was new to the Kingswells area, I created a website simply to find out what was happening in Kingswells (and it’s still going strong after various updates) and to help others do the same. It came from a genuine curiosity and a desire to feel connected to the community.
A few years later, in the early 2000s, this grew into the first local Kingswells newsletter. My daughter and I walked all over the village in all weathers, delivering it through rain, wind and everything in between to make sure people stayed informed. A couple years on, a wonderful group of local volunteers joined us to help deliver the newsletters. This made a huge difference and showed just how strong the community spirit already was.
As times changed, that newsletter came to an end and this Kingswells Facebook page was created, bringing local news and connections online.
Over the past 15 years, this page has grown into something truly special. It has been a place for sharing news, promoting events, supporting local businesses and, most importantly, looking out for one another. It has helped so many people stay connected and up to date, and time and again it has shown just how strong the Kingswells community really is.
Thank you to everyone who has followed the page, sent in messages with information, shared our updates or simply kept up with what is happening. You have helped make this more than just a page and helped build a connected, supportive community. C & F
Recently, residents might have already seen that the colourful footprints on our local pavements are being repainted and improved. These markings lead towards Kingswells Primary School and were first introduced several years ago to help highlight safer walking routes for children travelling between their homes and the school. Over time, the original footprints had faded due to weather and regular use.
Our local councillors and Kingswells Primary School have provided feedback on which walking routes are considered the safest for our local schoolchildren. This input helps ensure that the footprints guide pupils along routes that are appropriate, practical, and safer for daily journeys to and from school.
Along the way, you might also spot some colourful, fun creatures painted on the pavements to brighten the journey for young walkers.
Refreshing the footprints supports road safety, encourages active travel, and helps children in Kingswells continue to walk to school with greater confidence and independence.

We’re teaming up with Aberdeen City Council’s Countryside Ranger Service to breathe new life into the duck pond behind Bon Accord Care Home (in between, Kingswells Drive and Kingswood Drive).
This is a chance to roll up your sleeves and get stuck in. We’re looking for local volunteers ready to do some hands-on work—clearing debris, cutting back overgrowth, and shifting material to improve the pond. It’s solid, physical work for a great cause—for the wildlife and our community!
Date: Saturday 4th October 2025
Time: 11:00 - 15:00
Meeting Point: 🦆 Duck Pond, behind Bon Accord Care Home
📋 What to Expect
🔹 Welcome & Safety Briefing
We’ll kick things off with a short welcome and safety rundown. The Countryside Rangers will talk through the plan for the day and hand out all the tools and kit you’ll need. Gloves will be provided, but if you’ve got your own—especially waterproof ones—it’s a good idea to bring them along. 🧤
🔹 What You’ll Be Doing
You’ll be helping clear vegetation from around the pond using long-handled rakes and garden rakes, cutting back overhanging branches with loppers or saws, and moving debris away from the water using wheelbarrows.
‼️ For safety reasons, volunteers won’t be allowed in the water—you’ll be working from the banks only.
🔹 Wrap-Up
At the end of the event, tools will be collected, and we’ll grab a group photo to mark the effort and the difference made. 📸

The new Kingswells website introduces a refreshed colour palette to reflect both the natural beauty and the evolving identity of our community. While the old site used orange as a dominant colour, we’ve chosen a warmer, more grounded direction that feels closer to home.
Gorse yellow now plays a leading role—a nod to the vibrant gorse that blooms around Kingswells in spring and summer. It’s a colour rooted in the local landscape, symbolising warmth, resilience, and a connection to nature. Paired with soft lilac and natural drystone consumption dyke tones, the new palette feels open, welcoming, and distinctly local—just like Kingswells itself.
This update isn’t just a visual change—it’s a small reflection of how our village continues to grow while staying true to its surroundings.
The old cockerel has finally retired—poor guy had his day (and lost his pecker, apparently). So, we thought it was time for a fresh start! Our new display picture now captures the true spirit of Kingswells—less cluck, more charm.
Our delightful new Kingswells Facebook Page logo reflects the character of the village, showcasing the distinctive white rendering and reddish-orange brick homes that are a familiar sight in the area. While we know not every house looks exactly like this, the design celebrates the overall feel of the community. It’s surrounded by vibrant yellow gorse—common throughout Kingswells—alongside the stone dyke wall and forest trees, echoing the local walks. The yellow, purple and grey tones are thoughtfully aligned with our Kingswells website.
