Duck Pond Improvements Begin

Yesterday, Sunday 10th May, members of the Kingswells Community Council were once again at the duck pond, continuing further improvements to enhance the area for local residents to enjoy.

As part of the LEAF funding initiative, a variety of fruit trees, shrubs and herbs have now been planted around the pond area. These plants were supplied by Springhill Nurseries in Aberdeenshire and included hostas, blackcurrant ‘Ben Lomond’, cherry ‘Stella’, gooseberry ‘Hinnomaki Red’, gooseberry ‘Invicta’, pear ‘Beth’, plum ‘Victoria’, redcurrant ‘Laxton’, rosemary and sage. Additional materials, including stakes and tree ties, were also purchased to support the planting project.

Due to time constraints, the Kingswells Community Council were unfortunately unable to complete repairs to the duck pond pontoon during this session. Arrangements are currently being explored for when these repairs can next take place. In the meantime, residents are kindly asked to take care on both the pontoon and the nearby bridge for safety reasons.

The Kingswells Community Council hope that residents and families will enjoy picking fresh fruit when it comes into season.
