What a Fantastic Day at Kingswells Great Western Early Years!

We had the pleasure of attending the Family Open Day at Kingswells Great Western Pre School Nursery and Out of School Clubs earlier today – and what a wonderful experience it was!

From the moment we arrived, the setting felt warm, welcoming, and full of joy. Families were greeted with smiles, and children quickly got stuck into a whole host of engaging activities across all the nursery rooms.

We explored the beautifully set-up Lions Club room, designed for babies up to 1 year. It was a calm, nurturing space filled with soft sensory materials and real-life objects – perfect for little explorers. Moving up, the Cheeky Monkeys room was buzzing with energy as toddlers played, discovered, and interacted with confidence and curiosity.

The next stop was Tiger Towers, where children aged 2 to 3 are supported based on their developmental milestones. It was inspiring to see how the pre-school offers increased one-to-one time here, helping to gently prepare the children for the next stage in their learning journey.

Across the whole nursery, the focus on natural, real-life materials really stood out. From fine motor skill activities and construction play to carefully thought-out transition boxes that help build focus, every area is designed to support each child’s learning and wellbeing. There were even sand timers and sensory tools in place to help children self-regulate and calm down when feeling overwhelmed.

We were especially impressed by the attention to detail and the thought that has gone into creating a space that not only looks beautiful but also truly meets the needs of young children.

And the cherry on top? Kingswells Great Western Early Years has just been crowned Winners of the NDNA Scottish Best Nursery Award 2025! A well-deserved achievement for the entire team.

Thank you for having us today! It’s clear that Kingswells GWEY is more than just a nursery and pre-school – it’s a nurturing, inspiring community where little learners grow and shine.
