The Kingswells Community Council (KCC) meeting took place on Sunday, 16 November 2025, to discuss community matters, ongoing projects, and future plans.
Members adopted the minutes from the previous meeting and reviewed administrative updates, confirming that insurance remains in place for all KCC events and that a new ICO application has been submitted, with renewal due in November 2026.
Councillor Kate Blake attended and reported that the Traffic Regulation Order for parking restrictions on Kingswood Drive will be reviewed next week. KCC will send a final email reiterating its opposition to the proposed double yellow lines. She also confirmed that planning for Hazlehead School has been approved. Concerns were raised about the distance children must walk. A school bus service will operate for one half of Kingswells, but not the other. A new bus route is under consideration for 2028. Residents asked about Bucksburn pool, which will open soon but has been delayed due to air-vent issues. No police reports were received.
The Council discussed local land maintenance and whether there is sufficient interest in forming a Community Interest Company (CIC) to address unmaintained areas.
KCC reviewed the Duck Pond volunteer event on 1 November, which had a strong turnout. Half the pond was dredged and the old stream cleared to the bridge. Future plans include restoring the original Bucks Burn stream and improving the surrounding green space. Two KCC members met with the Aberdeen Countryside Rangers to discuss further opportunities. An update on LEAF funding is awaited.
Concerns were raised about fireworks use in the community. A Facebook poll showed most residents support silent fireworks, and the Council will explore the possibility of a silent display next year.
Preparations for the Christmas Light Switch-On event were discussed. Funding has been received and will be used for catering and festive snacks.
The KCC bank account remains in good order, and there were no new planning applications.
A resident raised concerns about non-functioning street lighting in Prime Four. Drum has confirmed the issue is under investigation.
Spring bulbs are still to be delivered. Rangers will be planting trees on Wednesday at a volunteer event.
No bus service currently operates through Kingswells village at weekends; only the Park & Ride service is running. KCC member will attend the upcoming Transport meeting to obtain the latest information on the No. 14 service.
The Council’s online crowdfunding campaign for future improvements and events will continue until January 2026.
The date of the next meeting will be announced in due course.
