Candidates Sought for Kingswells Community Council By-Election.

Residents of Kingswells are being invited to stand for election and represent their community in the upcoming by-election for Kingswells Community Council.

The Community Council is looking to elect up to 12 new councillors to act as a voice for the area and express the views of local people on the issues that matter most to them.

Anyone wishing to stand for election does not need any specific qualifications or experience but should have a keen interest in their local community and a public-spirited attitude. Candidates must be at least 16 years old, listed on the current electoral register, and reside within the Kingswells Community Council area.

The closing date for nominations is Thursday, 5 June 2025, at 4:00 pm, with the notice of poll or uncontested election published on Monday, 16 June 2025. If required, polling day will take place from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm on Thursday, 3 July 2025.

Community Councils usually meet once a month to discuss local concerns and, through public engagement, encourage feedback and involvement from all residents.

Established under the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973, most Community Councils comprise up to 12 members, with each councillor elected to serve a three-year term.
