Open to a wider range of projects

Kingswells.com applied for a grant from the Tesco local community grant scheme to help repair some drystone dykes around the village.  The scheme appears to have been opened up and may appeal to more groups in the Kingswells.

Thank you for the interest you’ve shown in the Tesco community grant programme. The programme launched on the 19 October and has received a substantial number of applications.  However, we also know some valuable projects have not been put forward for funding because of the tight timescale and some of the eligibility criteria.  We’re committed to making sure the programme helps as many communities as possible.  Having listened to your feedback we have been able to agree that the programme will now be open to a wider range of projects.

The main changes are as follows.

Open access - Projects will still need to benefit the community and be free to access (ie not subject to an entry fee). However, this may now include project sites that do have access restrictions such as:

·         projects on school grounds

·         community spaces which are for the specific use of housing estate residents or community centres, including gated areas

·         spaces in the grounds of ‘closed community venues’ such as hospices and day centres

·         allotments (although works to individual plots cannot be funded).

Landowner permission – Applicants will still need to demonstrate that they have (or can get) the permission of the landowner to undertake their project and that the project can be looked after in future in order to receive funds but we don’t need to have a signed form at this stage.

Project completion – Instead of the project having to be delivered within six months of funding being received, this has now been extended to 12 months.

If you think your project may now be eligible please click here https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/FJ9DVMS and fill in our simple expression of interest form by noon on Friday 11 December.  We will then get back to you to tell you what other information we need to assess your application.
