COMMUNITY Council members have welcomed the completion of a new path leading to a North-east business park.

Kingswells Community Council had called for the link with Prime Four business park.

Work on a pedestrian access between the community and the new Urban Village Hotel, within the business park, was completed earlier this month.

Stan McEwan, chairman of Kingswells Community Council, said: “We welcomed Urban Village Hotels to the area as we could see the benefits that they could bring.

“However, without this user-friendly route to and from the hotel, the village felt cut off and slightly isolated.

“Kingswells had sorely lacked the leisure facilities that this new hotel was offering so there was no doubting that community council members were going to be in favour when the development was first mooted.”

Stan added: “The community council has been pushing for this link not only to the hotel but to all other facilities within the Prime Four hub, including Kingswellies Nursery and the Coffee shop.

“Prior to this new pedestrian pathway the trek from the village to these amenities involved a convoluted hike around the parameter of Kingswells Park & Ride.

“Two years on from the hotel opening and after a lot of negotiating we finally have our missing link.

“The community council would like to thank Drum Property Group for all their financial assistance.”

Drum Property Group, the Aberdeen-based property developer and investor behind the business park was delighted to see the link completed.

Fife Hyland, communications director at the group, said: “We have a great relationship with the local community at Prime Four and are delighted to have been able to help local residents by funding and constructing the new path, providing safer and easier access to all of the facilities.”
