A NUMBER of people escaped serious injury following two crashes yesterday.
Two motorists were especially lucky after their car overturned and landed on its roof in a field.
In the first crash at 2pm a black Vauxhall Astra and a gold Citroen Saxo collided on the B979 Culter to Elrick road, at the Carnie roundabout, near Westhill.
The two women in the Astra escaped relatively unscathed, as did the driver of the Saxo.
An ambulance attended the scene but no one had to be treated for injuries or taken to hospital.
A police spokesman said: “There was a two-car collision at the roundabout and one car ended up on its roof in a field.
“No one was hurt and the road did not have to be blocked. No disruption was caused to other motorists as the cars were taken away very soon after.”
Shona Rattaray, 46, of Carnie Avenue, Westhill, said she saw a car “spin into the field”.
She said: “It looked a lot worse than it was, it looked very serious.”
Later in the afternoon two other motorists avoided serious injury when their vehicles were involved in a collision on an Aberdeen road.
The crash happened around 5.45pm on the unclassified road between Kingswells and Bucksburn at the junction near Newhills Church.
It is understood a white Ford car was turning right from the junction when it was in collision with a black Vauxhall. Both women drivers received minor injuries.
The junction was blocked for a short time.
