THE final investigations into the Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route (AWPR) are expected to begin next month.
The investigations will give information about the ground conditions of the southern leg and also provide data that would be required before construction, in the event the plans are given the go-ahead.
The proposed route leaves the A90 at Charleston, crosses the River Dee at Milltimber, loops west of Kingswells and rejoins the A90 at Blackdog, north of Aberdeen.
The scheme would also feature a so-called fastlink route from Stonehaven to Milltimber.
Tests on a number of private water supplies will also be carried out on the northern leg of the scheme.
Discussions with land-owners affected by the route will also take place, to agree accommodation works, such as the replacement of fencing which may be required.
A public inquiry into the bypass was held in Aberdeen, giving both promoters and objectors to the scheme the chance to put forward their evidence to government reporters, who will make a recommendation to Scottish ministers.
If ministers choose to back the proposal, it will then go before the Scottish Parliament for final approval.
John Wilson, managing agent for the AWPR, said: “The evidence from the public local inquiry is being reviewed by the reporters who will make their recommendation to ministers later this year.
“Separately, work must continue in parallel on some of the essential preparatory works for the scheme.
“All the landowners who are affected by these works have been contacted in advance and we are very grateful for their co-operation.”
