We recently obtained a Lottery Awards for All Grant for £10000 to instal a Traversing Wall and Soft Fall Surface in the playground at the School. This was to be both a resource to be used in school time and a community facility.
The Traversing Wall Project is now complete and can be seen in bright colours in the playground. The wall displays a Kingswells School logo, overhang panel, slab panel, and 6 flat panels. It also has a triangular and a dome volume hold and a line of nursery holds.
The children in the school initially suggested that they would like a traversing wall for the school and they have been actively involved in the project in line with the Curriculum for Excellence. The Pupil Council chose the design colours for the wall in line with the house colours of the school.
The school will be giving children an assembly on the wall and then children are to be phased in to use the wall in small groups. We should soon have a wall completely open to all in the playground.
The vivid colours of the wall are bright and cheery in the playground and the children are looking forward to having lots of fun.
