Police Report

Police report was received and distributed by email.

Kids and under aged drinking, is still a problem in the Derbeth area.

The Co-op is doing well and there are no real issues to report with younger members of staff serving drink to teenaged customers.

There is no evidence that drugs are an issue in Kingswells. Main problems are with alcohol.

It is important to keep Reg informed of any issues as he can use the number of issues as justification for working in Kingswells rather than another area of Aberdeen. Text number will be included in the next newsletter.

There is a fly-tipping problem at the Park & Ride exit onto the A944.

Points from Member of the Public

Fairley Road speed bumps do not seem to be effective at slowing down traffic. It would appear that some traffic is travelling as fast if not faster than before. The volume of traffic is increasing. The 20 mph is now mandatory.

Ian to check

There is a problem with cars entering the Fairley Road cul-de-sac expecting to have access out of the street. One solution would be to have a no through road sign installed.

There is also a problem with rogue parking in Fairley Road with cars being left for anything up to 2 or 3 days. The cars use precious parking spaces and are an inconvenience to local residents. It may be possible to get the wardens to investigate, but there is little that can be done if the cars are legally parked.

Peter Stephen

KCC is to write to Peter detailing the exact issues with the lights at Derbeth Park.

KCC

Height Barriers at the Park and Ride: the cost was not justified when the travellers left. Now that they have returned, the matter will have to start again. Peter is to provide an update. The best system has yet to be identified.

Peter

Alex reported that Clinterty is working well. A budget has now been assigned for maintenance of the area. Any money raised by the site goes to the homeless in Aberdeen. Social Services are assisting with the cleanup.

A view was expressed that a site similar to Clinterty is required in the south area of Aberdeen.

Alex reported that P&R attendant’s hours were to be cut and that the attendants would work at various locations in Aberdeen. This was not considered a good way forward.

Stonehaven Motor Club will not be back at the Park and Ride car park. There were several complaints regarding the noise. The club will be back charged for any damage done to the surface.

ACC will be losing staff over the next year, so it will be important to keep our contact list up to date.

There will be a review in the near future of the exit from Fairley road onto the Kingswells roundabout. The decision about whether traffic will be allowed to turn right will be considered at that time.

Peter is to arrange a meeting after the KCC meeting on the Community Plan.

7

Muriel MacKechnie ACC

Muriel is David Steele’s replacement as Community Learning & Development Worker.

Muriel will check out what is available to Kingswells in the form of Youth Street Workers.

Litter: Alex is trying to arrange a meeting to highlight hotspots in Kingswells that need attention.

Require an additional meeting to discuss the way forward with the Development Plan. Provisional date is this Thursday at the community centre. Barrie is to organise.
