1.      Introduction by Chair

2.      POLICE REPORT    New monthly reports from the police will in future be more informal and there will be uniformity of style throughout the Aberdeen area.

Two CCTV requests by the police have resulted in successful outcomes.

Two car thefts in Derbth and one other attempted in Kingswells this month.

PC Geddes hopes that late night monitoring of vehicles in the area may deter would be thieves.

Many anti-social incidents at the Co-Op are not reported to the police.
Police hope that CCTV will assist them if any incidents are reported.

3.      Mr Tomlinson distributed Area Committee North maps of the Proposed

Gypsy Traveller Halting Sites. Two sites in the North of Aberdeen and two

Sites in the South of Aberdeen are still the required number. The P&R in KIngswells and one in the Bridge of Don have been identified plus one in the south. As an alternative to the P&R a site on council land at Redmyres is now proposed.

The fact that the lower car park at the P&R is now being talked about as a site prompted the KCC to ask that this site should now go back to consultation as the initial consultation only identified the upper car park.

KCC felt that the Redmyres site is not at all suitable as the core path favoured by the council runs straight through the proposed halting site.

KCC asked if the Clinerty site could become a temporary halting site rather than a permanent one as this would free up more caravan spaces for short –term travellers. A small long –term site would then only be needed. A policy change by the council to stop long –term travellers block booking a site for months whilst travelling around the country could also be considered.

KCC is considering if contact with the three other Community Councils affected by the Redmyres site would be helpful.

Elaine offered to list all the pro and cons of the situation so that KCC can debate and add other issues.

Consultation by the council on the sites is expected to happen in the New Year.

4.KCC need to know how long we have to think about how to spend our grant money. Charles Low should be able to tell us. The worry is that we might lose some of this money within the next few months.

The council will not cover the maintenance of the Trim Trail if it was to be erected therefore this scheme is to be scrapped. The £3000 for the village signs will be ring fenced. We need to submit some more projects for the village so that we can spend our allotted money.

The next KCC meeting will be on Monday the 10th of November at 8pm in the coffee shop of Kingswells Community Centre.
