Wendy reported that First Bus considered that the concept of a Beaver bus running around Kingswells was not viable.

Peter presented a letter received from First Bus summarising the findings of the consultation (part of last month's meeting). There was nothing new to note from the letter except that First were to finalise their proposals within 10 days of the date of the letter.

It was noted that there would be issues with bus shelters on Fairley Road if it were to be used as an interchange between the No.14 and 40 buses. A new shelter would be required going into Kingswells, and the existing shelter going into Aberdeen may require to be made larger to accommodate the likely number of people changing buses.

The letter was discussed in more detail after Peter and Wendy had left the meeting. The route of the No 14 as it passes around Kingswells appeared to have changed.

Ian was asked to contact First to discuss the route, and the issue with shelters. (First confirmed that the route around Kingswells would remain unchanged, and that ACC were responsible for the bus shelters, and that they had been advised of the issue.)

Ian

The proposed changes to Cocker's Garden Centre were to be discussed at an ACC meeting on 17th Jan. The proposal was likely to be approved.

Barrie asked if the height of the proposed units could be reduced. Peter advised that the plans appeared to be unchanged, and any requests should be directed to Mr. Cocker. Barrie to write a letter.

Barrie

Peter had additional tickets for the Garden Party. It was suggested that Bill Maine - the resident who keeps the village centre tidy - should be given the tickets as a ‘Thank You' for his good citizenship.  Peter to deal with this.

Peter

The new traffic islands on Kingswells Crescent were discussed. Wendy and Peter advised that the island near Derbeth Manor would proceed this financial year, and the one near Wellside Road would commence in the next financial year, when more money would be available to allow the bus stop to be moved a safe distance from the island.

Peter to pass a copy of ‘Beyond Granite' leaflet to Barrie.

Peter

Wendy will not be able to attend the next meeting.

The maps associated with ground maintenance have been updated with some comments.  Alex to contact ACC to arrange a meeting to discuss the comments.

Alex

John's proposals for ‘Welcome to Kingswells' signs were reviewed. The designs were well received. There were possible maintenance issues, and alternative materials were suggested. The locations of possible signs were discussed and the best location was considered to be on the By-pass Road at both ends of the village.

The Kingswells news / websites will be used to gather views from the residents.

Barrie

Ian

Barrie to prepare a response for the Core Path Network consultation and distribute for comment.
