Profile of KCC: Barrie to bring a camera to the next meeting to take a group photograph.

 

7             Councillor Stephen’s Update

 

1.      Peter advised that there are some areas around Broad dykes where the open areas are currently maintained by ACC, but the areas have not been adopted. Peter will advise when more is known about this issue.

2.      The 3Rs project is nearing the end of Phase I. Contractors will be selected in the near future.

3.      Barrie reported another incidence of a member of the public using land owned by ACC as their own. Peter advised that in the past ACC has been over worked and did not give this issue high priority. A new ACC member of staff has been appointed to look at issues like this one.

4.      The issue of some bus shelters not being lit was raised. There are pros and cons about having bus shelters lit. It was decided not to take any action at this time.

5.      An issue identified by the police was parking on the corner near the village hall. Peter advised that yellow lines had been approved four months ago, but he was not sure when this will be actioned.

8             Update from Action Groups

 

a)          Environmental

 

Meg has planted bulbs, and advised that ACC will provide planters if Kingswells residents take care of them. ACC will make regular inspections and will remove any planters that are not well maintained.

 

Village sign: John will manage this topic.

 

KCC has received several positive comments about the Christmas tree. It seems to be appreciated by residents.

 

The Litter Warden is also a project that is appreciated by members of the public. The warden is working extra hours and is very enthusiastic about the project.

 

CCTV: Stan has a quote and will arrange to present the proposed scheme at the next meeting. David has still to write to ACC to ring fence the money for this project.

b)          Planning and Infrastructure

 

Kingswells is currently subject to some special planning regulations that controls the appearance of the village. ACC will be going to public consultation in the new year to determine if this special case should be maintained – or not.

Several members were extremely concerned about the proposed changes.

 

 

c)     Youth

 

The youth group is going well.

 

9             Treasurers Report

The current balance of the KCC account is £4,473.52 which consists of two funds:.

·        The small project fund is £3,000.00 and this sum is currently being ring fenced for the CCTV project.

·        The general KCC fund has £1,473.52

 


10        AOCB

A KCC meal will be arranged for Friday 12th January..

Next meeting will be on 8th January, 2006 in coffee shop of Kingswells Community Centre at 8pm.
