Good news for all those of us who are living in the dark ages in Derbeth, Concraig and Wellside. As most of you know, we are unable to get Broadband because of our fibre optic cables. Hopefully you will have noticed a flurry of BT vans and shiny new green street cabinets that have put up in the last few months. This is our solution to Broadband (ADSL over Fibre Optic). 10 Residents of Derbeth are already testing the new technology on our behalf. The test will hopefully run until March time. The good news is that it works for speeds up to 2 Mbps and is apparently reliable. Basically we just have to sit back and wait to be connected to the 21st Century. The only annoying point is the lack of information. We have all known for a long time that BT was trying to sort out a solution. Are we all going to be told when the system is up and running ??? When you phone BT it is a complete waste of time. Hopefully by March/April time we may have an answer, but I bet it doesn’t come from a BT source. Some helpful info can be found at www.broadband4kingswels.org.uk - Forums – Broadbandtalk – BT Trial (author Chris Brigs)

Roll-on March! How great will it be to be able to do high speed shopping again!

We are lucky enough to be one of those houses testing the broadband. I can confirm that it seems to be working fine, and is a massive improvement. Already I wonder why I ever bothered with such slow speeds elsewhere! I just hope it keeps up, but so far there's no reason to think it won't.... Andy, Derbeth Grange.

Andy, can I ask what speeds your getting? I too live in Derbeth Grange and have been lucky enough to have had BT ADSL for the last year but limited to 512k as I'm right on the limits of cover apparently, I'm paying the standard rate for 2Mpbs though so am very interested in the speed of your connection. Cheers, Another Andy, Derbeth Grange
