Thanks for all this info folks. SO in summary (as I stay in Derbeth) to ensure the best speed possible I should remain with BT and accept I'm getting around 2-3Mb/s. That said if anyone in North Kingswells has sky or a.n.other and is getting good speeds could they please post here? I did come across a website (speed test one) but can't remember which it was but it did show speed test results by geographic area, within Kingswells it did appear to suggest BT was the quickest and all others lagged behind. Graeme your post was very useful in explaining why this would be the case so many thanks for that, I'm going to cancel by request to go with Sky and stay with BT unless anyone else in Derbeth area can prove otherwise. Thanks all for the useful info. |

Update on the saga. So the sky go live date comes and goes, no internet. Phone sky, tone test doesn't work. They organise a BT man to come out and look at the green cabinet. BT man does this calls me and says it's fibre optic from Aberdeen to the green cabinets Sky would have to rent equipment from BT to make it work. Phone sky, tell them this, they say OK but you would now be a Sky connect customer rather than 'everyday' and it will cost you £17/m not £5, oh and in the evenings your speed will reduce as we have an agreement with BT. "Conkers to that!", I advised them politely, and requested to cancel and have posted back modem. Now waiting to see if they are going to re-imburse my 30 quid and not charge me a monthly fee in my next bill. Current situation, no broadband, after 3 phonecalls and spoke to most of the customer customer support team I finally have a MAC code and will be providing to BT to go back to them..... what a faff!!! |

| Did you not read any of the previous posts especially the one from Graeme Couts. We who live in Concraig.Derbeth or Wellside cannot get BB from Sky or Talk Talk because they do not recognise the technology used to connect us to BB.I dont understand why you even bothered to try! |
