hello I am new in the area and wanted to get connected to the internet using broadband. I live in wellside Road and can see the new green box it is 20 meters from my house. I was with Tiscali and they said they could not connect me and prompltly dropped me freezing out my emails with no warning. I then placed an order with BT who said no problem but on the day of connection they came back and said "no can do incompatible equipment at the exchange" I tried to explain about the green boxes but I couldn't get any where Can anyone offer a suggestion or the correct people to get hold of to get a broadband connection Thanks

Hi there Wellslider, I don't know if you are aware of the history of Broadband in the area,we have only been connected since January this year. We have all had our fair share of problems getting connected whichever ISP we choose to use. Even BTBroadband who are part of the same BT Group of companies as Openreach who actually do the work to connect your line to the service have trouble in understanding the system,I would have thought by now every ISP especially BT would be ready to connect but obviously not. I would suggest that before getting too heavy, you can leave that as a last resort,I am assuming you rent your line from BT if so go on-line to BT.Com and register a complaint. If you are not happy with the way it is dealt with and your are still not able to get BTBroadband then send an email to Ianshanks@bt.com,he is Head of BT Public Affairs,Scotland. There are higher authorities within BT you can get details by getting onto the BT Group Corporate website, but if you have to contact Ian Shanks he is well versed on the problems we had in getting Broadband to North Kingswells. I log-on to this forum everyday so if you need more help please shout. Good Luck

Try Demon , I tried BT who were not interested , then toucan who argued that it is impossible to supply BB over TPON , when I asked to speak to an expert she told me she had 2 weeks training and knew what she was talking about , so I said goodbye, noticed a recommendation for Demon on the forum ,and just as was said if you phone the demon provisions team and explain our situation once you get the standard cannot connect you email , no problems . I have used it for over 5 months not a problem , slightly dearer than some isps however you get what you pay for , also junk the modem and by a decent router .

Iam up and running with PlusNet. Took a few messages to chase them up at the beginging but now connected fine and no problems. They do some good priced plans depending on how much you use the bandwidth.

andy92, TalkTalk & Sky are LLU operators. Basically LLU's install their own equipment in the exchange rather than renting it from BT. To get sky or talk talk you need a copper wire all the way to the exchange in westhill since that is where they sky and talk talk equipment is located. I cant see sky or talk talk deploying FTTC technology any time EVER !!!. Possibly its all up and working however the copper wire is too long. On the other hand Talk talk might be being dicietfull. e.g. know you cant get it but dont see it as their problem.

It is the 28th september 2007 and I have just been connected by BT at last that is only 3 months, contacting the local MSP , head of BT open Scotland at least 5 hours on the phone witb BT on hold listening to countless hours of elevator music. We have had our BT order cancelled and restarted and may other hold ups The motto of this story if you want broadband explain to your provider they have to process the order manually, if they try automatically you get no where. PERSIST if they say no If any BT people happen to read this, you really need a better system than you have right now. How much money have you invested in the new street equipment, are you getting a good return, you have just lost 3 months of subscription from myself. Thanks to all who have tried to help
