Anybody else still waiting. Order placed 2nd February. Last update yesterday said that BT Openreach would update today. Not holding my breath. Can anybody suggest a way of getting BT to work quicker as Eclipse obviously cannot? I'm in Concraig Walk. :msn_mad:

I'm still waiting too. I live in Wellside and applied for broadband with Virgin Net on the 18th Jan. I've contacted Virgin several times only to be told that BT have to perform some additional work. The last I heard it was a "routing issue"

Finally got connected yesterday. Plugged Modem in and away it went. Due for connection 16th April. Had to move back to BT to get a connection though. Speed not that fast yet - 450kb/s.

I was connected by Virgin last week, just as I was about to cancel. Speed about 940kbs.

I was connected on Monday 16th by talktalk and I am very pleased with the service now that I am broadband enabled. I did have a great deal of trouble getting talktalk to provide the service. It was not until I phoned up to cancel that I got through to someone who took control of the order. They gave me their direct dial number and kept watch over the whole process. I was pretty pessimistic after quite a lot of failed attempts but after 2 weeks I was online. The only advice I would give to anybody out there thinking about going with talktalk is to explain that the automatic ordering process does not work, get a note of the order number and keep checking every 3-4 days. Speed just under a 1 mb and hopefully it will go up. If anybody wants a working alternative to broadband I have been using t-mobiles 3g service for about a year now with speeds of over a 1 meg downstream and 1 meg upstream. The only bad point is the service is slow at some times of the day when the mobile network gets busy. Andrew

I have the datacard for my laptop and it works perfectly upstairs in my house but there is no signal downstairs, if I go outside I also have a perfect 3g signal. There is an availability checker on the website for 3g according to where you live. I have also used the card around central Aberdeen and it has been perfect. I think there is a try before you buy period but you would have to go into the shop to find out about it. The shop told me the limits are not strictly enforced unless it was abused. The only downside I can think of is the 18 month contract but if you are mobile and need comms it is a very good service.
