Got this result today on my telephone number: There is no data available for this number. This could be either because it is not a BT line or it is a new BT number that has just been provided. Most new numbers will appear on the checker 24 hours after BT has installed the line. However, in a very few cases, new numbers may not be reported immediately to the availability checker. These numbers will only be discovered and added to the availability checker following our regular audit and cross-checking process and this may take up to six weeks. Good / Bad news ??

Good News! They are finally updating all the details held about the lines in the region served by the new street cabinets. Hopefully within 24 hours the line checkers will display that all the lines can get super fast broadband up to 8Mbps. This will mean that all the automated systems will recognise our numbers and the problems with the orders will disappear. Gec.

I knew it wouldnt last !! My line is now back to: Note: Our records indicate that BT has supplied service to this number using a special fibre. This explains why the checker has returned this marginal result. If you still wish to order then please note the order will be delayed until a site survey has been carried out to see if service can be provided.

In response to the message posted by Graeme.Coutts. I understand all about updating the line checkers. Does it still mean that any ISP will still show 'You have TPON on your line'. That is the biggest problem. As soon as you get that response they just laugh at you when you suggest ordering Broadband.

On the BT Checker I get a message about "If you have a ISDN or Home Highway service.....". I believe this refers to the fact I already have either of these services or an ADSL connection. I don't - my ISP (Plusnet) is looking into why my order has been delayed. However, running the Availibility Checker on http://www.samknows.com/broadband/ gets me the following message "Congratulations, you are in a broadband enabled area. However, you already have ADSL on your line. To move to another broadband provider you need to obtain a MAC (Migration Access Code) from your existing provider." Brian
