hi marcyboy, You dont mention the street that you live in but as you already have broadband I guess it's to the South of the village. Your broadband connection will be fed via copper lines from the exchange at Westhill. The Westhill exchange was upgraded to ADSLMax last March meaning that it can support connections up to 8Mbps. ADSLMax is distance dependant and you get faster speeds the closer you are to the exchange. Unfortunately due to the long distance between you and the exchange in Westhill (approx 6km) it is unlikely that you will ever receive a faster speed than the 512Kbps that you currently have. No upgrade can resolve this problem, its a purely the physics involved with sending a signal down a copper wire. However, if you are fortunate to be living in one of the areas fed via the new street cabinets then after 18th January you wil be able to apply for a upgraded broadband connection and should receive speeds of 4Mbps+. Gec.
