07 Dec 2006 14:16:35 Alert
I have received information from OpenReach which details their current progress on the Kingswells broadband connection. As specified in their recent press, all being well OpenReach will begin to process orders around Christmas. They currently have their software team ironing out some glitches in the new order process for the Kingswells and Dorchester areas. When this is operational they will inform the ISPs that orders can now be accepted. At this time OpenReach will write to all the Kingswells households in the area serviced by the new street cabinets to inform them that orders can now be placed for broadband. A few residents were a little too quick off the mark to place their orders which were rejected during activation phase. Likewise any more orders placed before the system is fully operational will again be rejected. We are all anxious to get broadband at the earliest convenience but I would recommend that residents refrain from placing any more orders until the OpenReach letters have been received or face yet more disappointment when orders are rejected. So broadband may not be the ideal Christmas present for North Kingswells, but it will make for a happy new year in 2007. Graeme Coutts.

Now THAT sounds promising. I've been waiting for some form of official notification from BT. Once these are sent out I'll believe that we are go for service in our little broadband desert. I mean, they've got a few hundred potential new customers. They're going to want to let us all know asap. Thanks for the info.
