Anyone got any updates on possible or successful activiation of broadband. Can you let us know where and when you hit the jackpot. My date is currently 17th Nov. We'll see, but would be nice to know if those in the queue before me get lucky. Cheers

Maddie - have you just applied ? I think I have an outstanding request still in the system and was always advised BT would get in touch when system went live - have not heard anything.

Put an order in with my ISP last week. Was advised service would be activated Friday 17th. Just got standard feedback today, something like "although your exchange is enabled your line doesn't support broadband, we are looking for alternative solutions and will advise blah, blah, blah" which is pretty much what I expected. Of course the ISP has already taken initial payment, but that's another matter... Guess we need to wait until mid-December before ISPs are aware of the procedure, and even then don't expect it to be plain sailing.

I placed an order with BT - activation was supposed to be yesterday (16th) but was cancelled on the 14th. My modem arrived yesterday!! Also got a message left on the phone from BT asking me to re-apply after new year.

Today is my "AD". Just waiting for modem etc to arrive not that it matters if it doesn't as I've still got two from previous orders sitting here that I could use instead if I needed it I suppose. Also just waiting for the cancellation to happen. For those who have had orders cancelled by BT, how do they do that. I have never been lucky enough for them to tell me that my order is cancelled - I always have to hassle them to find that out.

My order was cancelled cause I have ISDN and there systems have been down, they are going to try and fit me in next Friday. Got another Home Hub and 2 lovely shiny cordless telephones. £115 on the web. So if anyone wants 2 wireless routers and 4 cordless phones ...... check out ebay under brassed_of_wellsider. Oh I forgot about my talktalk modems as well. I could do quite well out of this. Now if I could just get onto the internet to sell them ......

Further to my post dated 22.11.06. there has been no communication from BT. I have put an order into AOL,they say they will write within 2 weeks to confirm activation date. It will be interesting to see what happens.

Think we've all jumped the gun trying to order now. I've also had a failed install two weeks ago. My guess is that once the other ISP's have been advised they can start selling it in Kingswells, well have hundreds of sales people knocking on our doors and dropping leaflets thru them with deals of the day. We are a huge untapped market after all.

Very good point you make Kbeeb. To be honest the only reason I applied to BT was because I thought there might be a greater chance than with other providers but since I have been assured that all isp's will have equal rights then I will definately boycott BT. Their deals are no better than most of the other ISPs' so no real reason to prefer them. That and the fact they have been reluctant to help us so far.

Phone call from BT yesterday to say issues all sorted, and I will be activated on the 8th and they will phone me on the 15th to make sure everything is working properly. Looks like we are nearly there (hopefully). I have not put in another order since my last activation date came and went last month without any broadband (surprise, surprise). Hoping this one is for real. Will let you all know after the date passes.

After your post Maddie I decided to try contacting most of the major ISPs' both online and by phone. All of the online checkers including BT indicated that my line was incompatible with broadband. When contacted directly the guy at BT indicated that I should be able to get a broadband connection at a speed of between 6.5 and 8 Meg and that if I wanted to go ahead my activation date would be 8/12. All the other ISPs' indicated that my line was unable to support broadband. I find it a bit strange that BTs' own checker indicates everything is all right while other ISPs' dont seem to have been informed or have not updated their checkers.

Wellsider. I am finding it a bit strange to get this call as BT have never phoned me before in all my four or is it five previous orders. Interesting that you get the date of the 8th as well when you phoned. Bit worrying about the checkers etc, but we'll see soon.
