I got a call from BT today telling me that I can now get broadband from my area. That they just enable this. Has anyone recieved such call? Or anyone with more info? I called the provider I placed order with and they check and told me that the problem is still there. John.

I am indeed curious to know about this phone call you had from BT,I suspect this was a sales pitch to get you interested in BTBroadband,we all know that Kingswells Telephone Exchange is "Broadband Enabled" but it has been for sometime. The problem is that Kingswells North cannot take advantage of that "enablement" because of the distance we are from the exchange and the cabling issue. The new equipment trial that BT carried out during the summer is complete and I understand from Brian Adams MSP that BT are talking to the regulator Ofcom about how they can advised ISPs when they can start offerring the service

I have got these calls as well. Its simple BT cold calling. The people at the other end of the phone have little or no idea of the situation in Kingswells. All their computer tells them is that you dont have broadband but are in a broadband enabled area. More recently its been TalkTalk either on the phone or knocking at the door. They have just added some of their equipment at the Westhills exchange and are looking for some new customers in the area to join their free calls + broadband for £20 deal. Funnily enough they also dont know about the broadband desert in North Kingswells - perhaps they should ahve done their homework first! Graeme.
