Quite new here and tried to get broadband and got refused. A bit of a downer I must say but hope there are others here in the same boat and not just me. Roll on broadband. I am really missing it.

Hi there welcome to Kingswells,I'm afraid your not alone,I am assuming you are in Concraig,Wellside or Derbeth. If not,I cant help you,but if you are I will put you in the picture. The whole of the north part of kingswells is served by BT with Fibre optic cabling which does not support broadband.Since last december Bt have been installing green cabinets on the pavement these are special equipment to enable us to receive broadband, they are currently on trial with 10 households in Derbeth. When that trial is complete, latest info is August 2006,we might get broadband. Hope this preamble has been of some help to you.

Thanks for the message. Looks like I've got a bit of a wait then until the trials are finished. Ah well, I can dream.

Hi there, I live in Concraig and I am also waiting patiently for a broadband connection. Out of interest, where did you receive the information that the trial will be complete in August 2006? Last I heard it was supposed to be June.

Spoke to the contracors today and they are installing new green cabinets like the ones that were installed in December. They don't know any more but I would take this as a sign that things have progressed well enough to do a full rollout or why else would they be spending more cash. Mr Fibble

No news at all. I have not emailed my contact at BT for a while now as the trial is ongoing. I am waiting for Brian Adam to give an update as he is going to be one of the first to know when things will go live.

Hello, This is the latest from Brian Adam. I recently met with BT representatives to discuss the progress of the Broadband trial at Kingswells. The trial is progressing, appears to be successful and you should see some additional roadside hardware being installed as the trial progresses to the next phase. This should see previous requests to obtain broadband access being fulfilled starting around mid summer and as they need to be done manually they will be rolled out over the following 3 months or so. As more information becomes available I will keep you posted. Yours sincerely, Brian Adam

I wish you people would just grow up. I log on every day to see if there is anything useful that has been posted, if something has been (particularily broadband posts) I'll always take a look. I can't tell you how annoying it is to read so much immature blurb and nonsense.

Totally agree regarding the inane posts on the site. Maybe there should be a new forum entitled "Idiots Corner" If you have no interest in a particular topic that is fair enough but this behaviour discourages people from asking questions or passing on useful information. In answer to your question I dont know what the small green box is for - maybe someone else will know?

Here is a reply I received from Brian Adams when I aked if people who had previously applied would have to allply again when the service is ready. It was sent to him from BT. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Brian Unfortunately when people originally applied they were out of reach so their Internet service provider would have told them that and presumably binned the order - though what records they keep and what procedures they follow is an issue for the individual ISPs. However I strongly suspect that when we notify the ISPs that broadband orders can be accepted albeit via a manual system they won't still have the records of who applied previously - and even if they do they might not want to proactively contact them. I would therefore recommend that your constituents hold back until we confirm that orders can be taken - by which time we will have the manual system in place and will have advised all ISPs - and then reorder. As it is the ISP and not the house owner which is BT Wholesales customer we won't be contacting individual customers although, BT Broadband - the retail arm of BT will, of course, accept and process orders for a broadband service from people in Kingswells in the same way that the likes of AOL and Tiscali will.

I wish some people would lighten up and get a sense of humour. I too have been waiting for real Broadband for around 5 years now. It's the odd humourous reply here and there that keeps me sane, brings me down to earth and helps me realise that there are more important things in life than the speed of information flow into and out of my computer. So lighten up, have a laugh and get a life.

Any ideas how BT will advise us orders can be taken ? Online system has opened up again (after a few months of being blocked for our post codes) - HOWEVER - having re-applyed for BT broadband 2 weeks ago I got cancelled the next day, but was advised that BT still hold my previous applications and they will get in touch (with our history of previous BB requests, having someone informed and knowledgeable call you is actually an improvement). Note above from BT seems to suggest otherwise. I guess all will become clear, but experience of BT clarity over last 3 years has been poor; a shame as it looks like they are are going to help us get a good solution.

I'm going to wait until I hear (on this forum) that about 5 or 6 people are up and running with no problems. Then find out how they got connected and do exactly the same. I've waited long enough now that there's no mad rush. If I've got BB before the year's end I'll be delighted.

You can rest assured ABL that when BT are ready to sell you something you'll get to hear about it.
