It may not have been your intention but your post is a thoroughly entertaining study in human behaviour at the lower end of the intellectual scale. It demonstrates that a need to be gratuitously offensive outweighed even the opportunity to do nothing about the article which upset you. You did not make any attempt to advance the arguments outlined or make any other positive contribution to the debate. Instead you chose, or were driven by instinct, to make the investment of composing and sending your post for no gain at all to yourself. Studies show that even so called dumb animals in the eco system never waste resources in this way, instead conserving them for the opportunity to obtain a maximum return on investment. Sadly, it is my duty to advise you that your own actions define where you occur in the intellectual food chain. In order not to cause further offence, shall we simply say it is nearer the bottom than top ? Thanks for posting.

I think you're wrong. To have sparked such a sanctimoniously pompous reply, not to mention all that wasted energy by way of hot air produced is a result indeed. Well done guest.

This can only be a “result” if you hold the view that the intention of the original poster was not only to waste his or her own time but to entice others to do likewise. Nothing in the original post suggests such a strategy, or any. Unless you are arguing that the entire purpose of the forum is simply to waste time ? Whereas there remain, even in this day and age, those who believe that the purpose of a forum is to stimulate constructive analysis and debate.

But surely this is 'constructive analysis and debate' as you put it. As to whether or not it's a waste of time, depends on what else you have to do. I, for instance am waiting on other people to pull out their fingers before I have any work to do, so I'm just surfing and replying to postings such as this. Now, some people may consider that a waste of time, but as Einstein said 'it's all relative'. Have a good day.

He also said, "Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former."

Think you'd need somethng more substantial than a 20ft scaffold pole to support the turbine in high winds. I can see noise/safety/planning being an issue if everybody had one of these in their back garden. In principle it seems a good idea for everybody to have some renewable power generation in their home, for one it might reduced the need for more high voltage lines across the countryside. On the other hand, what is the energy expenditure for manufacturing and installing millions of small turbines rather than a few thousand larger ones?

As in many areas of civil life, a few spivs will end up conning or bribing the brainless, grabbing “representatives” into creating a political will for this to happen regardless of its merits or lack of any. (This, by the way, is not a reference to Dave McGrath who is believed to be a thoroughly decent fellow.)

I think we would all accept that this erudite contribution has transformed the debate.

Dress it up anyway you choose; it's green - but this needs sustaining with detailed energy balance (e.g. see post above with manufacture comments) it's politically correct This looks like just a cheap shot at advertising his business - complete with fake interview...
