I was in the Four Mile last night (good food by the way) & I overheard a Stewart Milne & a Donald Trump discussing something about building a golf course near Kingswells.

You gave this away as a wind up, as soon as you mentioned the 4 mile and good food in the same sentence.

Maybe men of such power can get the WPR diverted away from the new course, round by Westhill would be good !

When will the residents in Kingswells stop complaining? If it’s not the Four Mile and bad food it’s the WPR, parking, Peveral, football stadiums, or just complaining how boring it is. The way I see it you have a choice, get a life or study the ASPC.

I wonder where the critical 'guest' lives, obviously he / she doesn't want to tell. Westhill may be in Aberdeenshire and so is that whole area south of Maryculter that the WPR will slice through.

Critical guest here. Have lived in Kingswells for past 7 years. I will be voting with my feet shortly though. Things have gone way downhill in last 5 years. Like I said the guy above is sadly correct, I speak from a lot of experience.

Hello Critical Guest, What things do you consider have gone downhill in the last 5 years ? Can you recommend anywhere better to live ? Thanks in advance

Taff, Personally I'm going abroad. If I come back to Aberdeen it'll be to a more established area West end or Cults, Bieldside, Milltimber (between the road and the river)or even out in the country, but recomending a place to live is entirely personal and what suits one doesn't necessarily suit another. Over the past 5, and more so the past 2 years is this mis conception by people that they live in a 'village'. Kingswells is a modern estate not a village. A village is somehwere like Torphins or Kincardine O'Niell etc. Or if you want an urban example Blackheath. I'm not saying this applies to everyone, I have some great friends in Kingswells, it's just there are quite a number of people with a completely unjustified snobbish atitude who think Kingswells is the end of the rainbow. Which is fine for them, just not my cup of tea. As I say each to his own, but please keep it your own and don't foist it on us all.

Hi Critical, I've also lived in Cove and they have a similar village attitude. I agree about the Cults area but a similar house would cost an extra £70-80K and so few seem to come on to the market. Good luck with your move abroad.

Why all the negative - it's not that bad at all - believe me there's far far worse. Think on the positives:- More or less equal distances either side of the river - makes getting around quite easy, close to town without being in town, low crime rate (albeit with a few vandalising idiots but no real serious crime), generally reasonable people - most will at least say good morning and greet you and ... That said it's not time to get complacent - Mr Milne et al generally gets their way so it is still a battle.

....Good School, Reasonable environment - trees, walks etc, easy to get a bus into town to go to the pub !, avoids most of the fog suffered by 'coastal' Aberdeen... its not all bad then !
