| Anyone know what happened ?
Have we finally seen the result of the unchecked speeding that goes on through Kingswells ?
My former home was almost exactly opposite the crash site and, believe me,it was of no surprise to me.
At night,we often used to hear people taking that corner at flat out speeds (and I mean flat out,not some old lady's over-exaggerated idea of fast).
Not that the majority of Kingswells' residents give a damn anyway, given that it is they,or their offspring, that are speeding.
As long as it's not past their own homes eh ?:msn_confu |

| I don't know what happened but agree with the previous post.
If speed was the reason for the crash they must have been going very fast to have 'lost it' there.

| 'Beside' the new play area, near a traffic island you may notice laying around (unless they've been moved by now) a lamp that used to be on top of a lamppost, a sign post that used to be concreted into the ground and a tree that used to consist of more than a snapped off trunk. Also on Saturday morning there was a car with a police aware sticker on it. |

| Skidmarks all over the grass adjacent to the bus shelter as well.
Spiral skidmarks as well, indicating the car was spinning.
How anyone could miss it is beyond me.
Can I suggest Specsavers ?
Whomever was at the wheel must have been doing some serious speed.
It's hardly a hairpin corner.
I would estimate at least 70-80mph would be required to lose control and do so much damage.
Yet the last speeding survey said we didn't have a problem.....

| I think if the car was doing 70-80mph, it would still be spinning now!!
I agree that the speed of some cars on the main road through kingswells, generally does exceed 30mph, however, you will probably find, it's mostly Kingswells residents that are the guilty parties.

| More worrying than the expected brainless boy / girl racers are the 'normal' looking people who completely disregard the Kingswells speed limit. |

| I don't think NESCAMP would be any good, their speed camera is in full view and they have to put out warning signs, only totally stupid / visually challenged people get caught by them !
We need good old fashioned policing ie hiding in a bush with a spped gun ! |

| No, I think everyone knows by now that some people slow down for the camera , then speed up once past it. |

| This could even make the situation worse ie speeding drivers see the camera (in Kingswells for half a day) and slow down, the camera catches no one, the authorities assume we don't have a problem, the speeding drivers carry on speeding knowing that the camera will not be back for months and when it does come back it will be well publicised.
What we need is our community police to carry out regular speed checks the old fashioned way with radar guns, I think this would be more effective than getting the mobile speed camera for half a day a year. |

| How about one of those systems that displays your current speed (I've even seen ones in certain villages that display "thanks" or a smiley face if you are under the speed limit). It could be used two ways:
a) it might point out to some people they are speeding when they don't realise it
b) you'd think it could also log the total number of times it is activated and also the total number of times it is above the speed limit - this would give something objective to the question of how bad the speeding problem is. |

| Good Idea KS,
These seem to work well in Aberdeenshire, Ive seen them in Ellon, Tarves and Foveran,
people seem to make an effort not to set them off.
Once again the County leads the City.

| I believe some UK community councils have been given radar guns to be used by volunteers.
I think letters are then sent to the offenders,on police letterhead, giving them a warning.
Details of those who have been sent letters could also be printed in the Kingswells' newsletter.
I had one 'nutter' behind me last night.
A mature woman,in a Black Golf.
She was about two inches from my bumper all the way through the village.
I then had to wait to turn right into Broaddykes.
She actually mounted the pavement to get past me,rather than wait for me to turn !:msn_mad: |
