Commuter, I agree completely, when the Police carried out some speed enforcement recently it was all Kingswells residents that were caught. On the subject of busses when I occasionally ride on one of these to Aberdeen on a Friday evening I am amazed at how fast they go round Kingswells. The park and ride ones seem to be worse as they obviously view driving round Kingswells as a waste of time.

Already stick to 30 (and 20) zones in Kingswells, but have absolutely no problem overtaking a pratt doing 40 max on a 60 road.

they should fix cameras to the trees or bushes to observe this junction, it'a very obvious that there is some entertainment value to be had at this particular junction/location.

Also have no problem with overtaking someone doing 40 in a 60 zone. Luckily don't often come across drivers going that slow on the Newhills Road. Not that it is particularly suitable for overtaking at any point, given that the straight stretches are fairly short and you are likely to meet a car/lorry coming round the bend the other way at 60 mph. And what is it with the people who cant keep to their own side of the road on the bend coming towards Kingswells?

I spoke to soon, On Monday and Tuesday I have joined the queue before the bungalow, all we need is a few dark wet November mornings and the queue will be back to Derbeth again. Still there won't be any speeding problems !

Sorry folks but there is nowhere on the Newhills road between Kingswells Crescent and the church it is safe to travel at more than 40mph. There is also nowhere safe to overtake on that road. The other day someone was tailgating me on the double bend between the church and the junction,he eventually overtook me shortly after turning left I slowed down to almost a stop to let him past!

Sorry Guest but I disagree, It all depends how well your car handles. The bends between the church and junction are one of my favourite bits of road in Aberdeen, but some people wobble round the the bends at 30 then take off down the hill at 50+ to Newhills (40 zone). Take my advice enjoy yourself on the bends and observe the speed limits.

This morning (Wednesday) the queue was back to the new community centre and football pitch, where is the promised improvement ? Is looking like another waste of money just like the park & ride - see todays P& J.

Where is the promised improvement? The promised improvement should have been built 20 years ago in the form of the bypass!!! That road, classed as a B (minor) road was never built to cope with the volumes of traffic it sees. To improve that road to a sufficient capacity would only serve to see more traffic in the form of HGVs using it. I agree that the road is awful in terms of congestion and road surface and that it is completely unsuitable as a main commuter route in Aberdeen. What we need is for the people of Kingswells, i.e. the majority of people who have posted on this forum to stop complaining about the proposed bypass and start supporting it for the long term good of our community.

I almost had a disaster travelling on the Newhills road yesterday. I normally try and arrive the same time as a cyclist so I can comfortably sit behind them at 10 mph - more than fast enough. However there was no cyclist !!! If it wasnt for the big JCB limiting traffic to 20 mph I'd have been a gonner having to speed up further. My knuckles are still white as it is !
