| I am disappointed with the improvements to the Newhills junction,
I had hoped it would be widend to allow two lanes from the Kingswells side so improving the traffic flow with cars going left to Dyce not being held up by those making a right turn to Newhills, why wasn't this done ?
I fear the new junction will make it easier for lorries to use this road now and so encourage more trucks to come this way and avoid Anderson Drive. Also there have been no repairs to the rest of the road between Derbeth and the junction, there are several areas where the road surface is broken up, this would have been the ideal time to repair and / or resurface.
The current 'improvements' are not worth the 5 week closure or our council tax to pay for them. |

| I expect our money and time not to be wasted,
if its only a temporary measure till the by-pass is built (5 years ?)
then why bother. If somethings worth doing its worth doing properly.

| I am very disappointed at the "improvements" which were supposedly made to the junction. I've raised my displeasure to the council via their website, firstly to say that the amount of improvements and repairs they carried out was v.poor to say the least, and for the road to be closed for 5 weeks for the amount of work done was v.poor too! |

| Totally agree with Steve and Andrew.
I thought the whole point was to ensure the better flow of traffic and improve the road quality. As far as I can see the road quality is still rubbish approaching the junction, and you still only have one lane of traffic so people can not turn left and right at the same time until they are upon the junction.
As for the person saying "what do you expect" - I expect that I should be able to drive around Aberdeen without sitting in a queue of traffic for half an hour or destroying the suspension on my car.

| I have found a big improvement in the junction at various times of day. What is the worst time for delays?

What is the nature of the big improvement you have observed? How can it be time related?? The "improvements" are the improvements regardless of the time of day?
As far as I can see, it is now easier for buses and lorries to negotiate the junction and there's space for two cars side-by-side at the junction itself.
Other than that the queues in the morning remain the same, as cars turning left still have to queue behind those turning right to Bucksburn.
We were led to believe there would be a reasonable slip road created to reduce the queues of traffic turning left. I'm waiting for a reply from the roads department as to what their thinking was when they spent our money on this!

| yes
it's me that holds up the traffic at 5pm on the Newhills to Kingswells road.
the complete road should have be made wider for me & my bicycle, never mind the improvements to the junction. |

| Commuter,
I have found that there are no queues at the junction at the times I pass at various times between 7:50 and 9:15.
What times have you experienced problems.
I too thought the double lane would have extended further back, but from my experience the work that has been done has improved the flow of traffic.

| I have never used this junction at peak travel time,I only use it once a week to go to tesco at danestone,I used it for the first time this week and Im afraid I am impressed by the improvements.
The road surface is much better and yes it is easier for larger vehicles to negociate and hopefully that will make driving a small car safer.
I dont think the intention was ever to create a 2 lane traffic way to allow commuters to get to Dyce any faster.
I think the speed limit from Kingswells to Bucksburn should be 40 mph the whole way
I find it very difficult to travel at 50 mph safely and there have been several accidents over the years. |

| The bends are great fun when you take them at 60mph !
Since starting this thread I must admit that I have yet to queue more than
3 cars at the junction and traffic does seem to be flowing better.
I will reserve judgement however till the holiday season is over. |

Tell that to the Kingswood Mews resident who overtook me on the 40mph section coming up to the Newhills Nursing Home. Unsurprisingly he wasn't chuffed when I queried him about his manic driving. |

| Most people seem to ignore the 30mph limit in Kingswells as well.
Either cars are charging up behind me or romping away in front.
I like driving at 27mph (when possible) in the village and holding up Mrs Fourwheeldrive who is 2 minutes late for ballet practice, Mr Important whose BMW is to good only to do 30 and Master / Miss Boy / Girl racer who doesn't care because its mummy's car anyway.
Anyone want to join the 27mph club and play slow down the looney ? |

| While we're on the subject, does anyone know where in the highway code it syas that cars with engines over 3 litres and costing more than 30 grand, don't have to use their indicators? |

| Yes,yes,yes I'll join the 27 mph club,lets form a convoy along Kingswood drive
that should be some sight!
Better still, lets get onto the bus route in front of a 14 or 41 and keep them to timetable.
talking of highway codes and driving skills, the secret of keeping to the speed limit when going down a hill is to take the right foot off the accelator pedal, and apply the brake pedal lightly, there now wasnt that simple. |

| It's amazing how many local drivers (many with kids in tow) are prepared to sh*t on their own doorstep.
No doubt they'd be the first to ask for more speed restrictions if it was their child who flew out on a bike in front of a car. I've heard the excuse that you can't look at your speedo if you have to concentrate on the road - seems to me like plenty drivers do neither. Anybody who finds road signs too distracting and doesn't have the mental capacity to keep an eye on their speed should think twice before getting behind the wheel again. |
