Subject: Kingswells to Bucksburn Bus Route?

In light of the new road improvements at the Newhills junction, is any aware of any plans for a bus route from Kingswells to Bucksburn/Dyce, other than the current nightly service? I seem to recall reading something some time ago about a proposed bus route once the road had been widened at the Newhills junction. I'm sure there must be some demand for commuters going to Dyce during the working week at least.

Absolutely no chance unless you can convince the council subsidise it. First Group aim to operate every service at standing room only. Something which will be hard to achieve given the population of kingswells. I'm afraid the demographic layout of Kingswells in relation to the rest of the city does not make it a viable business option for them. Most services first operate will pick-up fares every 200 yards from terminus to terminus. Such a service to Kingswells would spend a lot of time driving and not a lot picking up fares. Comparatively this driving time would make the route prohibitively expensive to operate. The best you could ever hope for would be an hourly service and this is unlikely to attract the masses. I fear the existing bus services in Kingswells are under used (by first group standards) however i would attribute this mostly to the issues i raised in the Park And Ride thread rather than a real apathy of public transport. Should we manage to get these issues ironed out then I'm sure that passenger numbers in Kingswells will continue to rise and increase the likely hood of such a service. What did you have in mind? I would like to see something like .... Garthdee - Cults – Kingswells – Bucksburn – Airport – Dyce

sounds a bloody good idea a Kingswells to Bucksburn/Dyce bus route. is there any VIP's that would benifit from this probably not !!!!!! so it will nrver happen
