Hello

Has anyone had the unfortunate experience like I have had today with irresponsible dog owners?

This evening, whilst walking my puppy dog at the back path behind Wellside End, I had the displeasure of running into an extremely rude and obnoxious couple in their late 30's/early forties walking 2 large dogs, which appeared to belong to the German Shepherd group.

Minding our own business, one of the dogs became increasingly aggressive with my dog, and bit his back. The owners (with a boy present) stood back and watched, and made no attempt to remove their dog from the situation. I urged them to take control of him, but no effort was made. I eventually managed to pull my now shaken dog away (as he WAS on a lead), and mentioned that if they could not control their dog, he should not be off the lead. What if small children were present? (I am a Mother).

The woman responded very rudely 'He's nae aggressive'. She then proceeded to launch a personal verbal attack whilst her husband and child looked on.

Apologies if I am ranting somewhat, but it is extremely frustrating to know that their are some residents in Kingswells who have such low standards, and cannot be responsible for the actions of their dogs.

This same path is often littered with dog mess, a path which is used by schoolchildren. It is the responsibility of EVERY dog owner to pick up after them, and keep on a lead when necessary,it only takes less than a minute. The Dogs Act 1871 states that a court may, upon complaint that a dog is dangerous and not kept under proper control, order the owner to keep him under proper control or to be destroyed.

It is a great pity that the inconsiderate actions of a minority affect the majority, and I would appreciate your views.

Thank you for reading!

Seems to be part of a general trend towards lack of consideration for others
together with speeding cars, loud radio's in gardens etc.
In future take your mobile phone with you and video the offenders.
It might be worth reporting the incident to the commumity policeman, if the woman has that sort of attitude problem she has probably upset other people in the past.
Finally look on the bright side at least you don't live next door to them as some poor person does !

I feel really sorry for the first lady. I too have had a similar experience with a smaller dog on the same path, only to be told by the owner 'dont worry he will not touch you!' we have lots of problems on our street with two large dogs who bark all day and they have prevented neighbours getting their wee ones to sleep through the day. I wonder if it is the same dogs!!

With regard to the dogs barking all day, I would report it as it is antisocial behaviour. I would speak to the owners first to make them aware of the problem.
