Anyone else having problems with their BT (or other) phone lines today? Our's has been down since afternoon but broadband's still working! Spoke to BT who advised they are running checks on the line and it might be tomorrow before they know the reason.

We have the same problem in Wellside Road, seems to cover all Wellside + Concraig, but not Corse.
I called BT this morning (Wednesday) and they say they are planning to send out engineers tomorrow, the 13th. To me this is unacceptable, to leave fixing what seems to be a whole exchange for a couple of days, possibly leaving vulnerable people without a phone line, as I'm sure we don't all have mobiles.
Like you, my broadband is working. |

Phone line was dead yesterday. Came home from work today and all was back to normal.
Again, BB was working. |

My parents,whom stay in Wellside Road had this problem. BT did a line test - No Problems with it ... Even though there was no dial tone, and when you phoned in you got the disconnected line tone...... BT Broadband still worked right the way throughout.
How the hell can they test the line - if when you ring it - it doesnt even ring ...
They wanted £126 to send out an engineer and 96 quid an hour whilst that engineer was out.
They decided to leave it in the hope it would come back one, low and behold, the next afternoon - they were back to dialing into the number and getting the BT answer 1571 only. by Teatime that evening they were back in full operation.
Not so much as a Sorry from BT.
Sounds like a street cabinet problem. It was noted Openworld were in there fiddling about.
