Yesterday I had my nicely rinsed out collection of bottles, cans and jars rejected by the collection team (binmen). They left a general list of why they don't collect, broken glass... etc none of which applied, ''can't be bothered'' wasn't on the list. Faced with storing it all in the garage for another 2 weeks I took the easy option and slung it all in the bin like we used to do in the bad old days. If they can't be bothered to take it away I won't bother washing and storing it. Anyone else had any trouble like this or is it just me ?

I too had all my paper and plastics left outside my house and this is not the first time. Again I reported this to the council and was told to throw it into the general waste bin. I bet if I left the items at the Park & Ride it would have been collected promptly and FREE of charge. So much for the councils commitment to the environment and those who pay council tax.

Mrs Saxon called the council and was told they were not allowed to collect items in non approved containers. So in being helpful and having the council box for plastics (approved container so collected) and my own box for cans/bottles (non approved but previously collected for the past year) i had confused the system. The council man said they had lots of calls complaining about this. On the plus side though an extra 'approved' box was promply delivered to our house so I can now resume saving the world.

We could really do with another box as we've always too much for the "approved container" we've got - who did you contact at the council?

Sorry for the delay in replying Jumpers, I haven't looked in for a while. We called 0845 608 0919 to get an extra box
