| Are there any perspective councillors or msp’s willing to put pressure of first Aberdeen to end the 40/41 nonsense in favour of an exclusive 41 timetable?
If you are then you will have my vote.
For the many of you who don’t use public transport I shall explain...
Shortly after the Park and Ride site opened in kings wells, about 4 years ago, it became apparent that it was not as popular as anticipated. If first group are to be believed they were loosing money on the route.
Originally the service (40) only operated between the two park and ride sites at bridge of don and kings wells. In an attempt to limit losses on the route first decided to use time the bus would otherwise be sitting at the park and ride station to send it round Kingswells as a service 41. Whilst this would work during off-peak hours, there was no spare time to do this during peak hours.
This resulted in a really stupid 40/41 timetable where you have a 15 minute off peak service and an extremely random peak service with 2 hour gaps in the timetable.
The difference in 40/41 routes is also easily abused by drivers wishing to cut out the village either for a fag break or because they are running late. This means passengers standing endlessly for buses that don’t turn up.
Despite the propaganda spread by first group and the anti bus lane brigade, about the service not being used, I can assure you that buses leaving Kingswells between 7:20 &7:50 generally have most seats taken before leaving the park and ride. Half of those passengers board the bus in Kingswells village, not to mention paying nearly twice the fare for the privilege.
Aside from being extremely confusing the current timetable is extremely frustrating and unfair for passengers in Kingswells village.
If our elected representatives won’t put up the pressure, then perhaps Kingswells.com might consider running a petition?
Even if 90% of people in Kingswells never use the bus, it’s still more than the 99% of people who would never use a cycle lane between Kingswells and Bucksburn

| Just to add first group have recently bought a heap of new busses for their 22 route which means the old ones will be getting allocated to less profitable routes. It would be easier if we could act sooner rather then later on this one to ensure that the Kingswells route gets allocated the extra busses in favour of other routes in Aberdeen. |

| The last time I complained to First about the gaps in service of the 41 I was advised that roadworks were the cause of disruption to services.That was when Market
St was having all those problems so now that that is out of the way the services should have returned to what passes for normal to First.
What really annoys me is that they have been running the 41 service for a few years
if the buses cannot run to timetable,then change the timetable so that folk are not left waiting at stops for up to half an hour. |

| It is indeed ridiculous that they can't run a full service during the morning rush hours, yet have a regular service that runs mostly empty for the rest of the day. I would use the #40, but can't get a bus between ~8 a.m to 10 a.m . I'd be OK for getting home in the evening, but half a service is a fat lot of use.
I called First about 18 months ago to ask about this - the helpful chap on the desk encouraged me to email my complaint as "the more people who complained, the more likely management would take notice"
My suspicion is that the council subsidises the P&R service, in which case they should be able to have some say in when the services are run.
May be one to ask our councillor about? |

| Further to my posting earlier today,this afternoon I went for the 2.54 got
to the stop near Concraig Gds at 2.50 and eventually a bus came at 3.15.
I have composed a letter to customer services at First which will go off tomorrow. |
