| A reminder to all - the number straight through to the controller is no longer on the home page - its 01224 725055.
Nice folks at the other end, probably the politest complaints 'receiver' in the world but not sure they can make any difference. |

Better still is there an e-mail address for complaints ? |

| I found this article quite interesting ....
31 March 2007
A Commons motion calling for the same packages of window and building insulation for Aberdeen, Edinburgh and Glasgow airports, all BAA owned, as the company makes available around its English airports was co-sponsored by Malcolm Bruce, Gordon Liberal Democrat MP whose constituency includes the airport.
He claimed the noise-reduction measures were not available to people living in Dyce. It should be applied to those affected by noise levels above 66 decibels and he said he was acting in response to complaints from them.
Aberdeen Airport’s spokesman said BAA was aware of the difference in help offered and had been for some time. The company was "looking at ways of resolving it".
He said: "One of the problems is that this is not a case of comparing like with like because much of the traffic at Aberdeen is helicopters. It has one of the busiest heliports in the world."
He said same volume of movements of helicopters is not there at Gatwick and Heathrow. It had a different noise effect on residents, "so it would not be simply a matter of imposing the same scheme".
He added: "However, BAA are looking at ways of resolving the issue."
Kevin Brown, Aberdeen managing director said he would be happy to meet Mr Bruce to discuss the issue.
Mr Bruce said that BAA had made no mention of compensation so far.
He said: "It is only fair and sensible for the same level of help with noise mitigation to be offered to residents of Dyce and other Scottish airports when is it is already available in England."
He also said: "BAA has a good record for listening to legitimate community concerns and I feel sure that they will engage with the community again on this matter."
The motion notes "with concern" the disparity on BAA's treatment of residents near its Scottish airports in comparison with those in England "and calls on BAA to take swift action to level the playing field and provide the same level of assistance in this matter at all BAA airports in all parts of the United Kingdom." So far it was signed by eleven other MPs

| I wish I had enough time to keep a "noise diary" but unfortunately things like work and living my life get in the way.
I think all this is way over the top.
I get more noise from planes than i ever got from helicopters but I have no intention of asking them to change the approach pattern to Aberdeen Airport.
Surely there are more pressing issues than this!! |

| More pressing issues ?
No Wellsider not for me, no.
Obviously its not all the time but when there is a helicopter flying in circles over my house and the windows are vibrating it tends to go to number one irritation.
Plus don't you think other people have to work and live their lives ?
You just carry on working and living your life and we will do what we can to improve our environment.

| With warmer weather, and the BBQ season starting this issue will affect more people.
Last time I was walking up Brimmond Hill this was a major distraction.
Kingswells should support those directly affected by this menace.

| Andy,
The people I have discussed this with do have SMH houses.
But as Ian says it affects everyone when outside.

| I would be very interested to find out how many Kingswells residents regard helicopter noise enough of a nuisance to stop them going into their gardens or enjoying a barbeque come the summer months - not many I would bet...
Does this alleged problem only affect certain areas of the village or is it just that the ears of those who live in Derbeth etc. are more sensitive than the rest of us? |

| Another reason to keep these things away from residential area's :
MEETING AS COPTER SAFETY CONCERNS GROW
08:50 - 13 June 2007
Chc Scotia, the North Sea arm of Canadian group CHC Helicopter, will meet representatives of aircraft manufacturer Sikorsky today.
CHC said it was a routine meeting, however, it is understood to have been called to discuss growing concerns among oil workers about the reliability of some of the aircraft being used to take them offshore.
The concerns relate to Sikorsky's newer S92 helicopters, which are used to provide transport services to the oil and gas industry.
One worker, who asked not to be named, said there was increasing unrest about the S92. He added: "None of us has any faith in it. There is one problem after another."
A spokesman for CHC denied there was a specific reason for today's talks, adding: "CHC holds meetings on an ongoing basis with clients and manufacturers to discuss relevant issues and ensure successful working relationships."
