I know it's a while ago now, but just in case you were still wondering, I'm reliably informed by Scottish Hydro that it was caused by a power surge in the Kingswells and Summerhill areas. Of course, I'm the one with a hundred candles in the house and no matches! Times like those when you appreciate your neighbours!
