Anyone in the Concraig area able to receive terrestrial Freeview channels? Don't want to spend any money on a box until I'm sure. The postcode checker on www.freeview.co.uk indicates that we don't have coverage - given that we can't see Durris transmitter that seems quite likely.

Mainly Congraig and Wellside can't get it as a rule. You can put an extra extra high gain aerial up and get some of the channels. But the normal ariels recommended for freeview and even some stronger probably won't get you very far. Worth a try though as I believe someone persevered and got a few channels working. You can always return the box if you can't get it to work. I managed to get CBeebies and about 10 other channels, but no Grampian or Channel 5 etc so put it back and got Sky intead.

You'll only get the Freeview digital channels if your aerial is pointing towards the Durris Transmitter. Some of Wellside and nearly all of Concraig can't see the Durris transmitter so have aerials pointing to the repeater station in the Bridge of Don which doesn't broadcast the digital channels as yet.

Thanks to all for the feedback - as per the last poster, I have never bothered installing an antenna as all my neighbours point at the BOD transmitter which is about 1/10th the power of Durris. Didn't think it would be digital yet. What with the broadband fiasco, that makes 2 black holes we're in here!

Does anyone in Wellside Circle get Freeview. My TV picture is terrible and was wondering if its the norm?

or even better, FreeSat (get Sky installed then cancel their subsription when the terms allow) You'll then get all the Freeview channels via your dish with no payment to Sky. :msn_smile

I'm in Wellside Wynd too and can't get E4 or freeview. Am I doing something wrong? I used to have the sky package which is now cancelled and always thought I was digitally prepared for Freeview.

To "Guest" in Wellside Wynd. It might depend on what type of arial you have, or where it is facing/is located. I'd suggest getting someone to check this, and trying different locations eg outside house or inside loft to get the best signal.

To the guest who suggests subscribing to Sky then cancelling after 12 months, that's an expensive deal. Sky freesat costs £150,then you can add packages whenever you want.

I'm completely hooked up and ready, got the sky box, hd plasma but still can't get it. It also says at freeview.co.uk 'Unfortunately FREEVIEW is not currently available in your area.'

To "Wellside Wynd Babe". Sorry, I've got no idea how a "sky box" works. I have used Thomson and another brand of digibox with no problems. I know the Freeview web site says that it is unavailable in our Postcode area, but I promise you that I have it and also have had Top-up TV for over a year.
