| I am fishing for any information about when the new Tesco planned for this year will be given the go-ahead. I read on the westhill residents page that a local meeting was held discussing the planning aspects last month, but there has been no published outcome.....someone please give me hope, the drive to the Asda bridge of dee, or the dive across hadigan roundabout hoping for the best to get to tesco bridge of don are not for the faint hearted |

| westhill is great, the only thing we don't have is a dodgy pink boozer & I gather that Fiona will not be taking advantage of any of Westhill's superb ammenities such as Costco, Westhill Academy, Westhill swimming pool, Westhill Golf Club and the forthcoming Tesco store. If this is not the case then please stop your

and p.s we hope you enjoy your new wpr, a dual carriageway on your doorstep, how pleasant!

| Sorry, I don't have any info, but I'm sure (when I first heard it was going to be built) that it was meant to be around fairly quickly. I'm surprised that there has no mention of it for ages. I have sent in an email query via the Tesco website. If I get a reply, I will let the forum know. |

| ...anyway for those interested and did not read the evening paper last night have a read of this....
Quoted from Evening Express 30/04/2005
TESCO'S BIG PLAN GETS EVEN BIGGER
16:00 - 30 April 2005
A Supermarket giant wants to build an even bigger store in a North-east community.
Tesco has drawn up new proposals for its planned store in Westhill.
It has already been given planning consent for a multi-million pound store.
But the firm has submitted amended plans to Aberdeenshire Council which would mean more jobs.
The originals included a 51,340 sq ft store, 341 parking spaces and a petrol station.
But in the new plans there would be no petrol station and instead the store would be expanded to 59,140 sq ft, with 442 parking spaces.
A Tesco spokesman said the changes, if accepted, would create 275 jobs, 75 more than previously predicted.
The spokesman said: "The feedback from local people seems to be that they definitely want a store there.
"It's a year since the original plans went in and the requirements have changed on both sides."
The outline application for the whole of the site, at Westhill's Arnhall Business Park, allows for a complex of 53,820 sq ft.
At 59,140 sq ft, the complex would be about 18,000 sq ft bigger than the Tesco at Inverurie, which opened in 2001.
The spokesman said: "If there was one part of the plan people were not so keen on it was the filling station.
"So hopefully the fact that is no longer in the plans will please people as well."
Tesco had hoped to have the store ready for the end of the year.
The spokesman said: "We do not see any reason why this cannot go through fairly quickly given that the last one was sorted out.
"I'm sure there will be a few technical issues to go through.
"But we hope it will be done in the same sort of time scale, which would be towards the end of the year."
The move has been welcomed by Stewart Whyte, chairman of Westhill and District Residents' Association.
He said: "In principal I would support a larger store with more parking spaces.
"It definitely sounds like a good idea. We want to bring as many people into the Westhill as possible.
"Westhill is crying out for a big Tesco with more lines."

| Why no filling station? That's the part I was looking forward to most...not because I'm really sad,or for the club card points, just because I'm fed up risking my life trying to get in/out of the 5 Mile filling station.:msn_sad: |
