I agree with what you say regarding Parent and Child spaces, however I think perhaps your comment about disabled spaces in gyms is a little off. Just because someone has terminal cancer for instance, it doesn't mean they haven't the right to park near to the entrance and go for a gentle swim or sauna. If someone has poor mobility in one leg, they have the same rights as anyone to go and pull weights or play tennis.

Well said Susan I think we should remember that "there by the grace of god go I". As the MSP who is trying to pass this bill said a disabled constituent said "I have no problem with people taking my parking space - if they take my disability too!" I find it sad that we should have to have this debate - it shows how standards of decency have slipped - the thought of anybody deliberately using a disabled parking space for their own advantage would have been abhorrent 20 or 30 years ago.

Excuse Me I Have noticed a number of posts especially 1 in particular regarding "E.g. the gym" and all I have to say regarding the narrow minded individual who wrote that is, its individuals like urself who reinforce discrimination and oppression. Firstly, are you that narrow minded and ignorant to believe that disabled individuals do not use the gym? and secondly ur stereotypical views of disabled individuals and ur Medical Model approach to disability demonstrates a complete lack of understanding in relation to individuals with learning disabilties. I suggest you go and read up on some social policys and legislation in regarding to learning disabilties to try and get a better understanding to become a less narrow minded individual.
