When Aberdeen City Council is for all intents and purposes bankrupt, The Roads are a disgrace, Service cuts, Education cuts, Unmanned Park and Ride open to misuse, 30MPH Speed Sign Post at traffic lights horizontal, the School Playground is a building site, no Youth Club, thousands already spent on Welcome Signs, after over 18months they have still to be errected, Kingswells Community Council wants our views on lighting an unlit path which has been in existance for nearly 20 years.
SOMEONE NEEDS A REALITY CHECK?

Kingswells Community Council priorities have puzzled me in the past, but what path where?

There hasn't been a mention of the community council on this forum for a long time since they refused to respond to constructive criticism. Yes what path? Also instead of worrying about who is going to sponsor the hanging baskets how about concentrating on putting pressure on our ACC councillors including dear peter to deal with the messed up roads.I heard that some of the KCC members toured the village making a note of all the roads that needed repairing, there was no need for that, just send a map of Kingswells to ACC and request that all the roads need repairing. There is going to be a nasty accident soon then there will be wailings and nashing of teeth and the usual "lessons have been learned"while some poor sod lies in hospital or worse.

So come on KCC fingers out and do the job you WANTED to do,

In the latest edition of the Kingswells Community News, under the heading, "lighting of lower path on village playing field behind Kingwood Mews" a resident has asked for lights to be installed on a path which has been in existance for nearly 20 years, there are a number of unlit paths in kingswells. This matter is also referred to in the minutes of KCC meeting February 2010 and the reasons given for lighting this path are nonsense. I think I have made my feelings clear in my original posting. kcc have requested our views, I hope any reader who shares my opinion will email Kcc@kwells.org and leave kcc in no doubt that there are far more important matters than this.

Putter,

KCC only asked your views on a proposal made by a resident - you have expressed these (most of KCC agree) but they are obliged to gauge the views of the public.

Do you really expect KCC to deal with the list of things you mention - if ACC can't deal with them . . .

Reality Check - what do you expect KCC to do? It would help if it were achievable.

I think the point was made quite clearly, that while Aberdeen City Council is bankrupt and has no finance for even the core services.
A reality check is required when "KCC after some debate agreed to write a letter to ACC to see if a feasibility study could be done on the provision of lighting. This study should be gauging the views of the residents of Kingswood Mews that maybe affected." Sourced from the Minutes of Kingswells Community Council Meeting Monday 8th February 2010.

One thing I would expect is that when thousands of pounds of tax payers money has already been spent by KCC on "welcome to kingswells signs" the project would not take almost 2 years.

If micksturbs, alsoone and putter are not happy with what KCC are doing why don't one of them fill the vacancy which exists on KCC at the moment. Do something constructive instead of ranting.

Putter

To be strictly correct the signs may have been considered over the last 2 years, and money was set aside. The signs were ordered in October, delivered in December and have been stored until weather is suitable for erection.

We still do not have the cash to complete 2 of the 3 signs, but they should be erected soon.

KCC has a vacancy if you wish to assist. We need people with diverse opinions.

Donations to complete the stone work for 2 of the signs would be welcomed.

Wellside39-----I would not join an organization with such a negative approach-------over the years,12 in my case, every proposal that has ever been brought to the table by anyone outside KCC has been rejected by them apparently because they believe they represent the residents of Kingswells when in fact they represent noone but themselves.
The latest suggestion to use the Park & Ride car park for other things gets the Chairs photo in the Evening Express to object to the idea because the people she "represents"
would not like it. Well I have news for the Chair and members of KCC you do not represent me and I think it a good idea to use the large unused spaces, here's an idea to get your going. How about a weekly market and car boot which is sadly lacking in this part of the area.

I think KCC does an excellent job. Kingswells would be in a far worse state without KCC defending our interests.

The same old response "Join kcc"
I have no wish to become a member of that group. but I can consider topics and leave comments on this forum. I can wonder how many thousands of pounds, it will cost the tax payer for Kingswells signs and when they are eventually completed, whether it was money well spent.
