Why has Kingswells in the last few months started to sound like a race-track? Peaceful weekends/evenings in the garden are marred by people racing around Kingswells either on motorbikes or cars. If it's younger people then I find it hilarious that having the freedom of their own transport they then choose to hang around the 'burbs as opposed to enjoying any kind of decent adventure on the open road - or maybe mummy has told them not to stray too far?.... and if it's older drivers, frankly these sad people need to get a grip....... However, deliberately patronising put-downs aside, surely it's not long before a major accident occurs in the village, which will then, and probably - sadly, only then, mean something is possibly done about it? Any thoughts? |

Speeding has been a problem for years in Kingswells but the noise you are affected by could be coming from the roundabout to Newhills perimeter road. The road is quite high in relation to much of Kingswells and the sound tends to carry (particularly from bikes having a blast along the road). Doesn't bode well for when the bypass is eventaually built does it. You could consider yourself lucky to be able to hear the traffic, this sunny weekend was blighted for us by near neighbours BBQ's accompanied by 'music' that could be heard 2 streets away.

It's sad that speeding continues to be a problem - and the noise and potential hazards that go with it, but yes, I count myself lucky not to have last weekend spoiled by inconsiderate neighbours! Although, kids jumping over our fence and in and out of our garden to retrieve footballs without any consideration, and then merrily hammering the ball against the fence for hours on end has been another gripe for the last few summers! Grumpy old woman moan over. :) |

Seems that speeding is endemic in Kingswells, from boy racers to school-run-mums to older folks that should know better. Just try driving anywhere at 30mph and you'll find cars either flying up from behind and sitting on your bumper or receding rapidly into the distance. It's especially bad on Kingswells Crescent over by Derbeth. We've done our best to instil some roadsense into our kids, but that counts for nothing when there are cars travelling at 50-60mph around the corner. It's a shame that the council wasted our money on the traffic islands and "pinch-points" to try and slow traffic - they barely make a difference (apart from the young fella who whacked his mum's car off the kerb near Concraig a while ago). When the council consulted on this I suggested putting up the type of signs they use in the shire - the ones that flash up your speed if you are over the limit. That way the idiots who say "I didn't know how fast I was going" can't use that excuse any more (in my book that's tantamount to saying you aren't fit to drive. How much effort does it take to look at your speedo??) The only good thing about these "pinch points" - next time I have some idiot up my ar*e I might stop at one of those islands and have a polite word with them Rant over |
