Just wondering if these minutes will be available for public viewing sometime soon?

Yes, sorry for delay.

I will issue two sets of minutes this week.

The form of the minute was changed to include action points. These were issued to all concerned the day following the meeting. So the performance of KCC has not been compromised by the lack of this minute.

Just found June’s minutes still eagerly awaiting July’s
How long can a community council claim to represent the community when the public don’t know what is being arranged in there name?

Concerned,

If you didn't waste so much of my time the minutes would have been available sooner.

July's minutes don't need to be issued for a couple of weeks. They will be issued on Monday.

Just read through the July 2008 minutes. Seems to me;
the information regarding the talk from Doug Ritchie of Aberdeen City Council
roads department should have been made available sooner.
The consultation on Fairly Road ends 1st Augest, just 4 days time.
If the July minutes had not been available for another couple of weeks it would
have been far to late to be of any use to the public.

Posted 2nd July 2008. Available via a link on the main page (although it is down there a bit now as it has been there for some time).

Ian, you take a lot of time to reply to questions/comments posted on this forum, could someone else from KCC not assist you with this? I don't think I've ever seen a posting by your Chair or other KCC members. Perhaps if the others shared the load then you wouldn't get all the grief. I appreciate the job you are doing, but it does look at times as if you are running KCC alone. Apologies of course if I have got this wrong.

Fiona,

Thanks for your post.

KCC is a committee where all the members give the time they can. Some have more time than others. We also bring to the table different talents.

One of my talents is an interest in computing. Although all KCC members use email extensively to communicate between meetings, most rarely visit the forums. I monitor the forums, respond directly to the topics I can, and refer to other members when the topic is more in their field of interest before I respond. Consequently, it may appear that I “run KCC alone”, but this is not really true. I have a higher profile than some, but KCC is a team that works together for Kingswells.

I have a fairly thick skin, and will continue to take the flack. It is not too hard as most of it comes from one person.

KCC is always on the lookout for new members to broaden its expertise. The extreme posts should not put people off. Normally, working for Kingswells and KCC is an interesting experience.

Thanks

All the usual suspects. (cynical)

I would also like to see some posts from other KCC members
But how would we know?

Thanks for your reply Ian. It has however left me a bit concerned when you say that most of the members of KCC "rarely visit the forums."

They should be using this forum as a valuable tool to gather public views and opinions. Many of us can't attend meetings on a Monday night but we can express views and opinions on this forum. Maybe this is something that should be addressed at a future KCC meeting? Should communication with the community you are representing not be a priority?

Fiona,

I think the important thing is that KCC do monitor the forum on a frequent basis.

Not everyone is interested in computers, or the Internet. To make it a condition of membership is not practical.

KCC members can be contacted by phone or email if there is some burning issue.

KCC is known to be one of the best community councils at communicating and consulting with the residents, but if we can improve we are open to suggestions.
