Saxon the area discussed is designed as the primary school playground.
The area designed for football is Webster Park, and claims that Webster Park is "booked up" are false. I hardly ever see it used. (I know it is being rested for now)
The two options suggested by you are very limited and facecious, perhaps adults could come up with real solutions.
Children require leadership and guidance for there own good, not by being given everything they demand.

REPLY TO POST BY IanC OF 8th JULY 2008

Seems to have slipped IanC's memory, he is "secetary of KCC"
He is treasurer of "Kingswells Youth Steering Group"
He is a Kingswells representative on the "Civc Forum"
He is /was involved in "Neighbourhood Community Planning" (may be named differently now)

Which member of the school made the decision for lighting to stay on till 21:30hrs?
Why this time when other youth activities finish at 21:00hrs
The lights will be on 364 days a year, should kids be home after 21:00hrs on a dark night, with school the following day.
A compromise was sought but the decision was taken by whom?
Interested parties who had contributed on the forum and made there objections clear were left in the dark, (sorry) ignored and not advised of this decision.
The kids of Kingswells don't want much? certain residents of kingswells don't ask for much either but some peace after 21:00hrs on a dark night would be good, somehow the shouts and bad language from the play ground is worse after dark.
Remember a school in close proximity is considered a BAD NEIGHBOUR and noise is an issue all through the day.
Lights On, being easy to achieve does make this the right thing to do. It has no impact on IanC's quality of life.
Is KCC not interested in the noisy fence panels and gate? Previous comments would indicate the KCC are in contact with the school.
IanC is complacent about foul language and expletives.Would these so called kids use these words to there parents or teachers? If not then it is not acceptable for residents to have to endure shouted obcenities and for KCC to shrug shoulders.
Seems to me priorities are wrong when planters, hanging baskets, and signs are considered most important. A section of the community is being ignored.
So Webster Park is "Booked Up"?
I believe Westhill Community Council hasbeen working hard to have free use of there All Weather Pitch. They may be able to offer IanC some advice
If IanC or KCC makes undemocratic bad decisions then expect criticism. It is obvious IanC does not take certain suggestions or criticism well. could be why people don't take up his invitation to meetings. Sometimes replies to questions are insulting and disrespectful

All of these activities you mention in paragraph 1 are part of KCC.

KCC is not here to take up every issue every resident has - there are not enough hours in the day, and most of us work. KCC can help out after a resident has taken things as far as they can, and if someone in KCC sees merit in the views presented and has time to spare.

I do not agree with your views.

If you have issues I suggest you take them up yourself in the first instance.

There is some advise on this thread that you should take.

Ian

FALSE

All the positions mentioned are separate. I now see IanC is also System Administrator for the CCTV system at the shops.
Membership of KCC is not a requirement to hold any of the positions above.
IanC chose to involve himself in this matter and take the lead to have the light settings changed.
Yesterday when I arrived home at 19:00hrs all the Playground lights were on (dull day not dark)

To take the matter further myself I require the name of the person at the school who made the decision to have the settings altered.
We live in a democracy so the community should know who takes sutch decisions.

I could not help but notice 13 Playground lights on at 19:00hrs last night. ON/OFF : On/OFF erratically till 21:30hrs.
The lights have been haywire since the settings were altered a few weeks ago.
I don't suppose we can expect to much when the person who choose to become involved thinks we should all use low energy light bulbs at home to compensate.

How does having 13 lights on till late affect our global footprint?
If everyone that received low energy light bulbs from the energy companies use them - it should compensate.
How does having lights on at all during daylight help anyone?

There are also a number of halogen spot lights that come on in the school car park during daylight. We have to pay for this waste of energy.

Considering Aberdeen council's finances are such a shambles you can see why.

Totally agree Allan and all the halogen spot lights should be pointed in a downward direction, with non above an angle of 55 degrees to the ground

I understand from reading the "spy camera" post that IanC and another KCC member were very considerate to visit Sam and his mates, where they play football to discuss issues and attempt a resolution.
No such consideration was shown to those people who objected to the light settings being adjusted.
They were left uninformed never even told of the decision taken by people on whoom it has no effect. We would still not know, but for badly readjusted settings which has shown up the changes. Deplorable
