The plan is to stop the Park & Ride bus going around the village. The 14 will be every 15 mins and will go Kingswells to ARI (eventually). If you want to go to ARI directly then you need to get off the 14 either at the P&R at peak times or at Fairly Road at other times and catch the 40. (every 10 mins) They plan to start buses earlier at weekends and holidays.

This is the first I've even heard about it ! I don't use the Kingswells Website all the time so when were we all going to hear about this ? Obviously I didn't attend the meeting as I never knew about it. Firstly : Why are First doing this ? Secondly : What is the proposed route for 14/15 ? If it covers ARI will it still cover Queens Road, Albyn and onto Union Street etc. etc.?

NO NO NO NO NO NO NO. How the hell was I supposed to know about this meeting. I dont go onto the Kingswells website every day. So of course I've missed the meeting. When are First planning to tell us ? Yes, this is definitely a BIG NO NO in my books, as I work at the ARI but my dentist is at Queens Cross, so I need both of these buses. It's all well and good leaving the no. 40 out from driving around the village, but what about when it's blowing a hoolie, pissing down, slippery as hell and I have to walk up to Fairley Road (from outside the school) or the Park & Ride. Well what can I say, it will not be a very nice experience and I'll look like a bag of s..t by the time I get to work !!!! I assume that the one gallon of diesel per bus that First will save is obviously behind this. This really encourages me and people like myself to take the car. Whatever happened to taking public transport ? I thought that was supposed to be the whole idea. Extemely annoyed :msn_mad:

The consultation was organised by First and was extremely poorly advertised. KCC only heard about it (with full details of the venue) on the Saturday before the Monday meeting. We put a large sign on the notice board on Saturday. There was a lot of objection to the proposed changes to the 40/41 route. We can only assume that since this is a consultation that this will be taken back to First Bus and reconsidered. The 14 will take its normal route into town, and will then head off somewhere else (can’t remember where) before winding its way back to ARI. It is not really feasible to use this route to ARI unless you have hours to kill. The 14 will no longer go to the beach, or the university. I will try to post the map of the route tomorrow. There are plans to change the ticketing to allow you to catch the 14 and transfer to the 40 so at peak times you can wait for the 40 in the P&R terminus building. At other times it will be Fairley Road. Some stops have shelters, others don’t. Hopefully, with the amount of disgruntled customers and Peter Stephen on our side First will reconsider. If you missed the meeting and want to express your views – you could write or email First.

The meeting was announced in the Evening Express in a lengthy article on First's effort to get the public involved in new initiatives to improve services. There have been several meetings in different districts of the city. The article gave the location, date and time of the meetings.
